An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life.

“A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It's a terrible fight and it's between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego” He continued: “The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. The same fight is going on inside you - and in every other person.” The boy thought about it for a minute and the asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Inspired by the concept of self-destruction, 'The One I Feed' paints a portrait of conflict and uncertainty within the destructive mind. The appeal of the destructive voice and the euphoria created when it is fed, resulting in a situation too complicated to give up.

The amazing composer Genevieve Murphy enthusiastically plunged into a new adventure with accordionists Renée Bekkers and Pieternel Berkers from the acclaimed duo TOEAC. Together, they descended into the depths of the human brain with the visual art live performance 'The One I Feed'.

To be able to defy one's own brain's destructive tendencies, one must endure sensations of uncertainty. 'The One I Feed' is a musical sculpture that paints a portrait of conflicts and uncertainties in a destructive mind and the attractiveness of giving these negative thoughts an ever greater voice, nurturing them and allowing them to flourish. In this performance, the audience influences the course of the performance 'The One I Feed' because they are an active part of the live performance.
