Pas de Deux

Pas de Deux

Jaar:
2014-2015

Just imagine a young, vibrant duo... x3 ! Sax & Stix, TOEAC and Tom & Ayla (acrobatics) challenge each other to a dazzling pirouette where playful ballet music from the “Groupe des Six” forms the basis of their exciting street theater performance: “Pas de Deux”. The unique combination of accordions, saxophone and percussion is of course the perfect line-up for classical music that evokes associations with funfair, circus jazz and dance music. Satie's music was a great source of inspiration for Milhaud and Poulenc. Satie proclaimed a message of change, reality and simplicity, using musical elements from the popular music circuit. The 'Parade''s lively and cheerful score includes motifs from separate genres, such as funfair, cabaret, musical and dance music, which he considered to be full-fledged art forms. The generation that followed, the 'Groupe des Six', brought about a fusion between high and low art. The composers of the 'Groupe des Six', including Milhaud and Poulenc, tried to outdo each other in extravagant works for the most unlikely and surprising line-ups. And that's definitely Sax & Stix and TOEAC!
