Bloedkoraal
“Peer Wittenbols is one of the country's best playwrights” — Cultural Press Agency
Tuur, a man in the autumn of his life, is brought to the ICU with sirens wailing. While the hospital staff fights for his life, he is thrown back in time. Back to his younger years, where he had an amour mistake with Meie. An intensely happy period full of love, booze and endless lovemaking. But disaster struck mercilessly. Meie died in Tuur's arms. Now Tuur descends to the Underworld to find his regretted lover. When he finds her, he decides to take her back home against the rules.
Bloedkoraall was already embraced by the public and the press in times of corona. The Theaterkrant called it “wonderfully sensual musical theater” and wrote: “Jack Wouterse and TOEAC suck the audience into the greedy depths, to driving, groaning and pumping compositions by Anthony Fiumara (and a touch of Bach).” About the quirky adaptation of the classic myth about Orpheus and Euridice: “To the beat of angry kisses and gentle scold, you slowly descend into a death pit of lives and loves far too short. To be able to taste something of sweet beauty there too. And to find out how to try it: negotiating with death. '
