Air Sensible
Live electronic composers Rob van Rijswijk and Jeroen Strijbos let sounds soar through space in collaboration with the highly talented accordion duo TOEAC, consisting of Pieternel Berkers and Renée Bekkers.
Van Rijswijk and Strijbos are fascinated by the instrument's vocal and expressive possibilities: the cantability gives the accordion a 'direct' sound. “Air Sensible” refers to the accordion's ability to breathe, inspire (inhale) and captivate (breathless, breathtaking).
“Air Sensible” is inspired by the acoustic warmth of the accordion and the digital precision of live electronics.
Using live electronics and the Multi Angle Sound Engine (M.A.S.E.), the accordion vocals are subtly edited and spatially reproduced. For example, there is the possibility to edit the accordion sounds in real time, or to let them float through the room at any time.
